Milton has been designated by the provincial government as one of the Places To grow in Ontario. The population is expected to reach over 230 thousand by 2031, and nearly 400 thousand by 2041. Intensification is part of the process to accommodate the increased growth. It’s defined as a process of redevelopment in order to adapt to the higher growth. In other words; growing up, not out.
Milton has an Urban Growth Centre (or UGC) stretching the length of the downtown core, and as far south as Allendale. Most of the intensification for Milton will take place in this area. There are plans for some ‘site work’ at the nursing home with construction possibly beginning in 2016. Want to have a say? There are public meetings in the works, so watch for those.
Just another issue to consider as voters make their decision on October 27.
